Permissions: "Enumerate Permissions" permission when defining a custom permission level

From what I'm guessing, the "Enumerate Permissions" checkbox would allow a user to see the various permissions set on an item, user, group, etc. for a list, site, etc. but would not allow them to modify those permissions.  Can anyone confirm this?Thomas
