CTRL ALT DELETE does not work from Hyper-V Console

Question

Thursday, May 24, 2012 1:39 PM

I  have a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 VHD that was created and running on a Windows 2008 R2 Standard machine for some time with no issues.  Last night I shut down the guest os and copied the vhd to a new Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise server.  Now everything seems fine except for CTRL ALT DELETE using the Hyper-V console.  I am able to rdp in.  Other guests on the same server are working as expected.  I have read many of the other posts and none really seem to fit our issue.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

Please check the following guide.

None of this helps for my issue, all the keyboard commands are sent to the host, not the guest.  I am still unable to logon to the console.

Just wait until them update finishes. It will surely start working after the update has completed. Mine took 25 minutes to update.

Why is the console showing that it's available for login when the update is still processing...shouldn't I see some sort of "Updating, don't turn off your computer" message and a completion percentage?

"Why is the console..."

I agree with this.  This seems extremely unprofessional.  If computer is not responsive, user should, at the very least, have an idea of what's going on.
