Group Policy folder gone - missing from System32 folder Windows 10

Question

Saturday, May 5, 2018 9:14 PM

Hi,

I began getting news notifications when I would use the Chrome browser. I went into the notification settings of Chrome, and noticed that several of them cannot be changed.  The error "This setting is enforced by your administrator" appears for some, while "This setting is enforced by the "" extension" error appears for others.

I looked online and apparently I need to check out my Group Policy folder for alterations. However, this folder is entirely missing from my C:Windows:system32 folder.

Any guidance about how to restore my missing Group Policy folder so I can address the hacked Chrome notifications would be greatly appreciated!

The C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy normally gets recreated on a reboot if missing.

What version are of Windows 10 are you running? Thinking Home or Pro?

Thanks for responding. I have Windows 10 Home, version 1709.  I've definitely rebooted many times, yet the problem persists!

Hi,

Please be aware that Group Policy is not available for Windows Home edition. For Chrome problem, it's recommend you contact the Chrome to see if any solution.
