Question

Tuesday, August 11, 2015 11:35 AM

Hello,

I get the following error prior to the upgrade. Do you have information?

Error:
Setup can't continue with the upgrade because the monad (35812) has open files. Close the process, and then restart Setup.
For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.ProcessNeedsToBeClosedOnUpgrade.aspx

Thanks.

Looks like you need to stop that process before you can proceed with installing the CU.  From a quick google search it looks like it's related to backup exec so either htere is a backup currently going on, or they have a process that hooks into Exchange (not familiar with backup exec).  Make sure it's not doing anything important (may need to consult symantec) and stop/kill the service/process.

Hi,

According the error message, you should close the undesired process before upgrading the server.

So I suggest you can restart your server to test.

Regards,

Just kill Symantec net backup ...

I had RFExchconn open files... which is the rightfax connectivity. I stopped the service. check your processes to see what is monad and stop that service during upgrade.
