OneDrive - Desktop Sync and Multiple Recycle Bins

Question

Wednesday, May 15, 2019 2:07 PM

We are testing OneDrive sync to protect Desktop, Documents and Pictures folders.  We are noticing multiple Recycle Bin folders on the Desktop when the sync is configured on more than one system.  It appears to simply be a pointer to the other system's $RECYCLE.BIN folder and does not reflect anything that might be in it on the other system.

It is also hidden, so for most users it is of no consequence.  Still, it is behavior I would expect to be corrected.

Anyone else experience this?

Yes, your understand is correct. OneDrive is a type of Cloud Storage, you can imagine it as a computer in cloud.

When we sync OneDrive with Windows, it creates a parallel bridge between the two and any changes made to one side is made to the other. So if you create a work document in the OneDrive folder on windows, it will sync into the cloud.

Now deleted items are a little different, when we delete something on OneDrive.com, it will go to the recycle bin (In OneDrive.com) which is the Cloud Storage - that will sync across all devices)

However, if we delete something on Windows, it will only go to the recycle bin ON that computer and will not sync across.
