Auto-Complete wrong e-mail in OneDrive for Business

Question

I'm trying to share a folder in OneDrive for Business. The shared folder is created by a co-worker. We've been sharing it to different people, both inside and outside of the company. But there's one guy we can't share it directly to, when typing in his e-mail, it auto-completes into another e-mail address, and we can't change it afterwards. Both me and the one who created the folder gets the same problem.

Hi,

Did you try to share the folder via OneDrive sync client or via the online app? If possible, please try both methods to see the result.

By "auto-completes" do you mean you selected the user address from the auto-complete cache or the user's address automatically resolved to a wrong address?

What is "we can't change it afterwards" referring to? Can you still remove the user from the sharing?

Have you contact the user and confirm whether the wrong email address is tied with the user's default email address?

Is the guy an external user or an internal user? What if we try creating a new email message and then enter the user's email address in the To field, will the address be resolved correctly in this case?

Regards,

Steve Fan

The user's address automatically resolved to a wrong address. Once it is selected we can't remove it or type anything else. The user is external. If we try to send him an e-mail via outlook 2016, it goes without problem. We're trying to share a folder in the online app.

Here you can see that we're starting to type in a email address, but it shows up as someone else. The name of the person is correct, the e-mail is wrong.

Having the same issue with an external recipient.  Searched our archive and traced the bogus value to an email sent a couple months ago.  I identified the recipients and had them clear the bad entries from auto suggest in Outlook.  An admin found an entry in Azure Active Directory and deleted it, however this just modified the outcome slightly.

Now I can enter the email address without seeing the invalid suggestion, however, once populated the entry displays a message indicating, "Multiple entries matched, please click to resolve."  When you click, you only see the invalid entry as a selection.  No Joy.

Same exact issue here.

A solution I don't like too much was to go to Site Settings>People and groups and the URL should look like "_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=17".

Change the last number to 0 and it should show you All People in the site collection.

Find the user in question and delete.
