Question

Recently across devices running Windows 10 1709 and 1803 we've noticed Quick Assist when launched and clicking "Give Assistance" will open a web browser window. From there it's either entirely blank, or it will show the "Give Assistance" "Get Assistance" prompts. If you choose to give assistance it will show the code as normal but when a user tries to use the code it errors out with "An error has occurred. We've run into a problem. An error has caused screen sharing to end or we cannot establish a connection. Please close Quick Assist and try again later."
Not sure what changed or how to fix it. It's happening on devices where Quick Assist had been used and normally never prompted for login.

I dont know if this helps or not but, I have switch my primary Internet browser to Edge. Then back again. It seems to make everything work only in the Quick assist windows but for some reason they just never connect. I have done some testing and it appears that the recent 1802 update may have had something to do with it so im testing that out now.

Chrismesiter’s workaround works but for me I had to take the following steps:
- Go to Settings
- Apps
- Default Apps
- Click on “Set defaults by app” (at the bottom)
- Scroll down to Microsoft Edge and click on it
- Click on the Manage button
- Change all the “File types and protocol associations” to Microsoft Edge
- Restart computer
Once I made sure it worked, I changed the default browser to a different browser, restarted once more. Currently is still working. Hope this helps anyone still having this issue.

- Try running the troubleshooter for Microsoft Store apps. Run troubleshooter
- If the above doesn't help:
Kindly go through the workarounds:

Tried both but didn't resolve. Thank you though!
Also tried removing Quick Assist from optional features and re-adding it. It still opens a web browser each time I click "Give Assistance". It's never involved a web browser in the past. Almost like a file association got messed up in a latest update.

Update system to the latest build 17134.83 and check again.
On my Windows 10 machine, I don’t see a pop-up browser after click Give Assistance. My default browser is IE, I also configure it as Chrome, also fine.
Then, I search online about Quick Assist on 1803, no record indicates this function has issue on the latest version.
Try to clean boot computer and note your browser setting, if your computers installed third-party security software, disable it and check again.
Regards

I was running build 17134.81. Just installed build 17134.83 but issue persists. This is across domain joined machines and standalone machines, both that previously worked a few weeks back with no changes to browser settings.
Clicking Give Assistance opens a web browser.
After entering my microsoft account username it goes to a blank window and sits.
On a computer running Windows 10 1709 build 16299.431 after clicking Give Assistance it opens in a web browser and gives me the prompts there.
From there if a user enters the code and submits it errors out and doesn't connect.

I'm also having the same issue with Quick Assist. My desktop and laptop are both Windows 10 Pro, Ver. 1803, Build 17134.81. I thought this issue was maybe to the latest update (April 2018, Ver. 1803) but one of my virtual machines (Windows 10 Pro, Ver. 1709, Build 16299.371) is also having the same issue. Any information on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I see, although I can't reproduce the problem, I am going to submit this case to Microsoft via our channel, let's wait for update.
PS:
The latest build of 1803 is 17134.83, not 81, update and check again

Same issue on two machines running 1803 17134.81. I'm not seeing 17134.83 available through Check for Updates.
