what is "Microsoft Office Just-In-Time Virtualization Interceptor" (i.e. Interceptor.dll)? I was opening a Visio file on my computer (running Windows 10 & Office 2019 Professional Plus). I don't have Visio installed but it appears I do have a Visio Viewer installed. At some point during the viewing of this file, I clicked something that caused a window to appear asking me if I wanted to run an ActiveX control named "Microsoft Office Just-In-Time Virtualization Interceptor". I have no idea what this is, or why its running. Any ideas? I allowed it and i'm not sure what it did. I tried another machine and couldn't get the interceptor to appear so not sure what the difference was. Any thoughts/ideas?

Hi jrauman,
There isn't too many articles to introduce the file "Microsoft Office Just-In-Time Virtualization Interceptor"(Interceptor.dll).
Based on my research, it's an important core component for the Office software to work properly. Generally, you can find it in Office installation folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\OfficeX (X = Office Version) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\OfficeX (If 32-bit edition of Office is installed on 64-bit edition of Windows).
The file is an add-on(ActiveX control) related to Office Dynamic Virtualization technology (Just-in-Time Virtualization). Dynamic Virtualization allows for better shell integration and enhanced the behavior of the virtualization handler components through tighter integrated extension points. This component also seems to be related to the interaction and security of the browser and Office applications.
I don't have many ideas about why Visio Viewer is calling "Microsoft Office Just-In-Time Virtualization Interceptor". It seems that Interceptor.dll is necessary for the Visio drawing file and you need to enable it to help Visio Viewer display the Visio drawing properly.
The above information is my personal understanding, only for your reference. Any updates, feel free to let us know.
Best Regards,
Herb

Hi,
Sorry, after my in-depth search, I did not find any group policy setting to enable/disable the control.
Best Regards,
Herb

Thank you for all this information. We are trying to avoid having the user see this pop-up but we want them to be able to use the Visio Viewer. Is there a way to allow this component to run via Group Policy so the user is not prompted to allow it (they wouldnt have any idea what it was and would likely say NO).
