Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-LiveId/Operational
Source: Microsoft-Windows-LiveId
Date: 02/08/2016 09:08:47
Event ID: 6113
Level: Error
Keywords: RPC,wlidsvc,Operational,Error
Description:
RPC call to function WLIDGetKeyLatest returned the following error code: 0x800488A5.
I am investigating why I cannot get the sign in window when trying to access the Microsoft Community Forums. No problems if using In Private Browsing but otherwise I get a failure. The Event ID: 6113 error is one of several errors being logged. Please help with interpretation.
TIA, Gerry

Hi Gerry,
Let’s try the following steps to see if can fix problem.
It seems these errors are related to log on with your Live account:
Please try these things:
1. Delete any cache of Microsoft account sign-in.
Settings -> Accounts, under "other accounts you use", remove all.
2. Next, delete any local accounts that are specific to Microsoft accounts.
Control Panel->User Accounts ->Manage another accounts, delete the Microsoft account if applicable.
3. Change your group policy GPO. Navigate to
Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies/Security Options/Other/Accounts: Block Microsoft Accounts
Make sure this policy is disabled.
4. Edit your registry. Navigate to
HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\IdentityCRL\StoredIdentities
See if there is the account that is giving you trouble. If yes, delete it.
Regards

I feel some of your suggestions are too drastic for the situation.
Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies/Security Options/Other/Accounts: Block Microsoft Accounts
The Security Setting is not Defined.
I have now discovered that if Run as Administrator is selected when launching Internet Explorer 11 everything works. The question arises is now "Why is this necessary"?
TIA, Gerry
