Question

Hello there, hope your day is going good.
Sorry I am very new with Windows Server in general.
I set up a virtual lab (using virtualbox software) and I created 3 different virtual machines:
Virtual Machine: Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller with AD and DNS.
Virtual Machine: Windows 7 Professional (Client Machine)
Virtual Machine: Winows Server 2008 R2 with Printer and Document Services Role installed. This is basically my Printer Server.
I need to do some test with the last one (the printer server). Such as: create a printer, add a printer, update drivers, create a group policy for the user to see the printer, etc..etc..
May question is, since that I do not have any physical (real) printer to test, how can I create a virtual printer? It is possibile?
Thank you so much in advance
Have a nice day

Hi,
Yes, it’s possible to create virtual printers.
Please open Devices and Printers on the Start Menu, click on Add a printer, select Add a local printer, then select Use an existing port FILE: (Print to File), after that select a printer driver you’d like and finish the wizard.
Here is a link for a short video, it’s similar process on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2:
