Question
Monday, November 21, 2016 4:57 PM
We are testing O365 Office 2016 to gear up for upgrading from Office 2013. We have some users who use Powerpoint a lot and they noticed that the functionality for click the right mouse button does not move the show in reverse like it did in Office 2013. I have included two screenshots from Powerpoint that shows how it should behave by design.
2013
2016
Please Advise,
Rich

I found the registry setting in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\PowerPoint\Options\SSRightMouse
1 = Menu
0 = Right click move slide Forward
Tried using 2 and 3 and it just sets it to Menu Option. My guess is I just need to set the registry key to what it was in Office 2103...working to find a user to work with on it.
EDIT: Looked at an Office2013 PC and the registry and I do not see any differences in the registry location above(except 15.0 vs 16.0) and ion Office 2013 if I click the right mouse it does move to the previous slide. There has to be something I am missing. Come on Ms support

Hi Rich,
>> they noticed that the functionality for click the right mouse button does not move the show in reverse like it did in Office 2013.
By this, do you mean when the users right click the mouse, they get the popup menu instead of going to the previous slide?
Have you tried holding both the right and left mouse buttons down for 2 seconds to check if you can return to first slide?
I’ve tried modifying the registry setting as is described in your last reply but it seems that it cannot change the performance in PowerPoint. So I’d recommend you try manually modifying the setting via File > Options > Advanced, clear the check box of Show menu on right mouse click under Slide Show.
Hope it is helpful. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance.

I made that change in Powerpoint before starting the thread. The right click menu no longer appears but the slide moves forward in the slideshow...not in reverse like it should.
Holding Left and Right buttons together reset the slideshow back to the first slide and that does seem to work.
But alas Right click is still advancing the slides forward.
I have tested this on 4 different Office 2016 PCs and they all behave the same in my environment.

Anymore ideas?

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your updates and sorry for my delayed reply.

Are these machines using the same version of Power Point? Would you please collect the build number of Office product via File > Account? Additionally, it is also recommended to check for and install the latest updates for Office to see if the issue can be fixed.
Please feel free to post back with any findings.

I have tried two different versions. 16.0.6965.2105 and 16.0.6965.2058 and it behaves the same on both versions. 2105 is the latest version I can download through MS(Tried again this morning, same version) and we update Office on Deferred updates so we cannot get the absolute latest and greatest.
I opened a case with MS O365 support and they verified they saw the issue as well on their PCs but could not work on it since it wasn't an issue with O365 itself and they directed me here or to Premiere.
I was hoping someone here might have seen the issue and resolved before I had to pay MS to fix their product :)

Hi Richard,
I can reproduce the problem in version 16.0.6965.2105. But it works properly in my newest version of PowerPoint(Build 7571.2042), which indicates that the issue has already been fixed in recent updates.
Please wait for the later updates released in your channel to resolve the issue. For now, you could use any one of the following keyboard shortcuts to perform the previous animation or return to the previous slide:
P, Page Up, Left Arrow, Up Arrow, or Backspace.
Hope the above information can be helpful.

It was helpful, Yuki. Thank you for your time on this. I will mark as solved once I am able to get my hands on the version you mentioned above and test.
Thanks,
Rich
