Multiple RDP Desktop Shortcuts

Question

Tuesday, March 21, 2017 11:13 PM

My wife and I travel frequently and share the same laptop using Remote Desktop Services to process business on our home office computers.  She processes on a domain workstation, and so she uses RDP/RDG, while I process on a workgroup computer using only RDP.

While we have this capability working well, there is a PITA factor in that all the Remote Desktop Connection settings have to be reentered each time one of us logs on after the other one has finished.  I've tried to make two separate shortcuts, but when I configure one, those settings are replicated in the other one.

I'd like to know how I can set up two pre-configured Remote Desktop Connections, configured for each of us, so that we don't have to got through the laborious reconfiguration each time one of us needs to log in.  Someday, when I win the lottery, we can buy a second laptop, but in the mean time I'd like to find a way to avoid all that reconfiguring.

where are you creating the RDP icons ? I believe, when you login and create an icon on your desktop it shouldn'tconflict with the icon on your wife's desktop icon.

Hi arnavsharma, and thank you for your prompt response.

I'm creating them on my desktop for convenience, and as a result of your reply I did some further checking and realized what I was doing wrong. when I configured the second one, I simply saved it, instead of "Save As" with a different name, hence I was simply overwriting the same icon.  I must have had my head where the sun doesn't shine.  So I created the second one and saved it with a different name and Voila! they're both there, each with its own settings.

Thank you for the slap on the side of my head.
