Using Outlook 2013 on premise. A window keeps coming up stating:
"The properties of the message have been changed. Want to save your changes to this message?"
Here is the sequence of events on how this happens:
1. Open original message
2. Click forward
3. Write message in body
4. Send forwarded message
5. Close the original email
After that I get the message window.
How can I stop this window from coming up all the time when I close the original message?

Hi,
Do you have any virus scanner installed? If so, please also try disabling the integration of the virus scanner in Outlook and then check if this issue continues. For your convenience:

In addition, there are many other customization disabled when starting Outlook in safe mode. Many of the items that you disabled by using safe mode are features that store their settings in the registry. Therefore, you should also consider following these steps if Outlook did not crash when you used safe mode:
- Close Outlook if it is running.
2. Start Registry Editor.
3. Browse to the following registry location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook
Rename the \Outlook part of this key to \Outlook-1.
Restart Outlook.
When you restart Outlook, a new \Outlook registry key that has default settings is created in this location.
Please refer to the following Microsoft KB article for more information. See the "Step 6: Start Outlook in safe mode" section:

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Does this issue happen if we try testing in Outlook safe mode? Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook /safe and press Enter. If the problem would be gone in safe mode, it means this issue could be related to problematic add-ins. Add-ins may add/delete/modify properties of your email message which could cause this error when you try to close the original message. Please go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable suspicious add-ins to fix the issue.
In addition, this issue may also happen due to one the following reasons:
- You have downloaded any pictures from the Internet (manually or automatically) that were included within the message.
- You have opened an attachment of that message.
For detailed information, please have a look at the following article:

This is correct. When I use Outlook in safe mode it doesn't happen. I'm conducting a test now by disabling one add-in at a time to see which one it is. I'll let you know.

I disabled all Add-ins and it still coming up with the window:
"The properties of the message have been changed. Want to save your changes to this message?"
I did notice that the only time it does it is when I have an attachment with the email. If there is no attachment its fine. I also did not open the attachment. All I did was bring up the email with the attachment and forward it then closed the original message. The message box comes up. The body of the email does not have any pictures.

This worked for me, Tick the Add properties to attachments.

I noticed this exact problem was happening to our users as well. (Office 365 with Acrobat DC Standard plugins)
I disabled the Adobe Document Cloud Outlook add-in and declared victory in this case. The "The properties of this message have changed" pop-ups stopped.

TO add a little more detail - I was having the same issue with Office 365 Adobe Acrobat installed - once the "Adobe send and track for Microsoft office" add in was disabled the message went away. Tested on my machine and then the users and both cases message appeared after enabling then disappeared after disabling.

Thanks Matt2444, this worked right away for me, thanks! With over 88 emails to grab files from, it was quickly becoming a hassle with that prompt popping up all the time.

That worked for me.
