Add package to WinPE 0x800f081e error

Question

Goodmorning

I'm trying to buid a WinPE image.

I just downloaded del last version of ADK available.
I'm trying to modify the winpe version that comes with the ADK adding the packages that come with the same adk... and I'm always receiving the 0x800f081 error.

I do the following via powershell:

First I mount the image in a temp folder

Mount-WindowsImage -ImagePath "d:\ADK\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment\amd64\en-us\winpe.wim" -Path d:\temp -Index 1

Just after I try to add a package:

Add-WindowsPackage -PackagePath "d:\ADK\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment\x86\WinPE_OCs\en-us\WinPE-DismCmdlets_en-us.cab" -path d:\temp

I've read that there could be a problem of compatibility due to version mismatch... but I cannot figure out.
Currently, the version I can read from within WinPE is 10.0.10586

Could you please tell me where I'm doing wrong?

Really thank you for you help

Thank you.

I figured out I was trying to add the packages from the wrong source.

For istance, trying to add the WinPE-DismCmdlets_en-us.cab package I was picking it up from the path:

d:\ADK\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment\x86\WinPE_OCs\en-us

I thought I need to pick packages from this folder just because I user the winpe.wim image in the "en-us" subfolder.

Instead of using Language specific packages (en-us), I used the "generic" packages in the upper folder

d:\ADK\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment\x86\WinPE_OCs

and everything went fine.

Many thanks for your help

Hi,

From my survey, for the Error 0x800f081e: The specified package is not applicable to this image, which is usually related to image file, please make sure your image is clean and suitable, since you use the latest ADK version, image version should be 14393.

Besides, Packages need to be installed in Order, base package prior to other package(such as language package).

There is a similar case can be regarded as a reference.

Error: 0x800f081e The specified package is not applicable to this image

I had the same issue.

My ADK and ISO were different versions.
