Question

I have VS 2017 Professional Edition already installed in my machine.

I mainly use the SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), work in SSIS and SSRS.

On top of this VS 2017, I have also installed VS 2010 (SSDT 2012), as a part of SQL Server 2012.

My development is mainly in VS 2017.

I have two problems:

1) In SSRS, when I run a simple table report, I find a weird behavior:

Clm1   Clm2   Clm 3    Clm 4

                                   x

                      x           x

                                   x

                                   x

Even though data is present in the database for every column, I see blank values.

'x' denotes data.

When I expand the column width of some of the four columns above, I see this:

Clm1   Clm2   Clm 3    Clm 4

                                     x

                                     x

                                     x

                                     x

                                     x

                                     x

I see data only in column 4 !

2) In SSIS, I have a problem with the Script Task:

The Edit Script is NOT opening in the Script Task of the SSIS Control Flow.

I am not sure whether the problems in VS 2017 is because of the VS 2010 installed.

When I try to repair the installation of VS Professional 2017, I see the following:

Sorry, something went wrong

The dependent package of 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Product.Professional,version=15.9.28307.423' cannot be found: Component.Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Applications,version=15.0.27520.3.

Can you help me sort the issues in SSRS, SSIS, and/or the repair the installation of VS Professional 2017 ?

Any suggestion please ?

Hi,

Welcome to MSDN forum.

>>The dependent package of 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Product.Professional,version=15.9.28307.423' cannot be found: Component.Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Applications,version=15.0.27520.3.

It looks like something wrong with SSDT, please uninstall it and repair visual studio 2017 in visual studio installer. If everything is ok, reinstall the SSDT.

If the issue persists, I need your help to collect the complete VS installation log. Please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.zip under %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

Best regards,

Joyce
