Change Size Of Thumbnail In Content List View

Question

Saturday, January 11, 2020 5:18 PM

In Windows 10 Pro does anyone know how to change the size of the thumbnails in Windows Explorer when set in the content view setting?

Obviously this is going to be a registry setting & will most likely not be customizable from the windows menus.

  1. Select “Start” and open “File Explorer“.
  2. Select the “View” tab.
  3. Make sure the ribbon is expanded. Pressing CTRL + F1 will toggle it for you.
  4. Select the desired setting. “Extra Large Icons“, “Large Icons“, “Medium Icons” or “Small Icons

Via Registry:

  1. Hold down the “Windows key” and press “R.
  2. Type** “regedit**” and click “OK“.
  3. Navigate to the following location in the registry.
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    • Software
    • Microsoft
    • Windows
    • CurrentVersion
    • Explorer
  4. Look for an entry on the right side for “ThumbnailSize“. If you can’t find it, then right-click on “Explorer” and select “New” > “DWORD Value” and type “ThumbnailSize” for the name and press “Enter“.
  5. Double click “ThumbnailSize” and set the value to a number between “32” and “256“. The higher the number, the larger the image thumbnails.
