Importing photos from SD Card in Windows 10

Question

Thursday, June 9, 2016 4:19 PM

Previous version of windows allowed importing of photos on an SD card, allowing you to name by date of photo taken.  Very easy and simple to do.

Does this exist in windows 10?  It doesn't even to seem able to import the photo, named as it.  A pop-up window opens, but with no options to enable importing.  Allows you to select pictures it finds, but no next steps seem available to choose.  In fact, cannot "X" out to close pop-up window.

Fundamentally, it appears Windows 10 doesn't have the photo functionality of previous versions - totally stinks!!!

Hi,

Please try the Import option in File explorer:

1. Connect the digital camera to your computer.

2. Open File Explorer.

3. Right click the camera and choose “Import photos and videos”.

4. “Review and organize” – choose this option to see what exactly you need to import on your PC.

Also, check the settings as More options:

"Right click the camera"? There is no "camera" in File Explorer. Right clicking the drive/folder that represents the "camera" does not show “Import photos and videos”. Not in Win10pro.

Just make sure your camera's "USB Mode" is set for MTP - not "Mass Storage"!

I searched high and low for an answer to this question, and no one came up with a simple answer. I lost 2500 photos from and African trip when I went from PC to laptop and Windows 8 to Windows 10. Well Windows 10 does have the photo functionality. I found out how to do it easily.

Follow these steps. I used the SD card in a card reader.

1. Insert sd card into a card reader.

2. Open file explorer and select 'This PC'

3. Double click to open the USB.

4. On top bar click 'Manage'.

5. A window opens with options.

6. Select from options. I chose 'import photos and videos'.

Hey ho, there you go, just select the photos you want do download.

Believe me, it is that simple.

Hope this helps.
