Transport and Filtering Management services will not start

Hi all!

I have a Exchange 2016 with Mailbox role installed where I can't get the Microsoft Exchange Transport and Microsoft Filtering Management services to start. All the depentent services are running.

I have uninstalled the AV (Symantec) and copied the "configurationserver.xml" file from an other Exchange Mailbox server in the same DAG that works. After this we restarted the server but the services will not start.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

It's better to post the error message that you got when trying to restart that two services.

Do you have working test Exchange 2013/2016 environment? Try to copy confgurationserver.xml file from there.

Hi

What error are you getting in event viewer when it doesnt want to start? Any receive connectors created "extra"?

If you check the anti-spam filters is symantec maybe not listed?

The two error messages i get are the following:

Microsoft Exchange Transport Service:  Error 1068: The dependency service or Group failed to start

Microsoft Filtering Management Service: Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error

The FIP-FS Filtering Management Service failed initialization. Error: 0x80004005. Error Details: (0x80004005) Unspecified error.  Unable to read data from configuration server for tenant id: 0

The FIP-FS Configuration server returned catastrophic error 0x80004005

I also get this in EventViewer:  (Process w3wp.exe, PID 688) "Exchange AuthZPlugin Fails to finish Method
