Question

I cannot connect to a VPN, it keeps giving me the following error message: "A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed." It does work some of the time, like all of a sudden it does work. But most of time, like now, I've been trying to get it to work for an hour and a half already.
I recently got a new laptop with Windows 10, and I never had this problem before with Windows 7. Then I also don't understand much of computers so I don't know what to make of the earlier discussions on the topic. I really have no clue what to do or how to fix this, so any help would be much, much appreciated!
Things I've tried already:
- delete and add VPN connection again
- restarting laptop
- turning off firewall
- allowing 'Routing and Remote Access' (private and public) in windows firewall
- switching VPN type from automatic to PPTP

Hi lauurien,
The issue occurred randomly, right?
When the issue occurred, we could restart the machine firstly.
If you have got multiple VPN connections, please remove all of them then try to establish the connection again.
Trun off the antivirus software temporarily, too.
According to the error message, it seems that there is a connection issue between the client and the server. Try to ping the VPN server both with the IP address and the server name when the issue occurred.
Try to establish the VPN on another machine in the same network.
Try to establish the VPN on another network with the same device.
Best regards
