Hey, I'm wondering how it is possible to set a personal view as my personal default view? I've created a personal view but whenever I navigate to my list the public default view opens up. Is there a way to have my personal view be opened at that point?

When you create a new view, it clearly states that only public views can be used as default view.
However, what you could do is make a link to your list in the view you want.

Hello MarjinSomers,
my german SharePoint doesn't say anything like that. "Personal views are for my use only" and "Public views are visible to anybody who's visiting the site" are the descriptions which I can see here.
I just checked the "_layouts/ViewNew.aspx" with administrator priviledges and now I can see the option "make default view" and the description that this is only possible for public views. However, when you don't have the permission to edit all views only to manage your personal views you cannot see this option.
My specific question was if it is possible to change the _personal_ default view and the answer is probably still no.
