Question

Hey all,
I've been trying to troubleshoot/resolve an issue that I keep running into with my Windows 10 computer abruptly rebooting, which I then find in the Windows logs that it's a result of Runtimebroker.exe. The even looks like this:
The process C:\Windows\System32\RuntimeBroker.exe has initiated the restart of computer on behalf of user Owner for the following reason: Other (Unplanned)
* Reason Code: 0x0*
* Shutdown Type: restart*
* Comment:*
Before this occurs, there isn't any other log that I'm able to find that would indicate any other type of issue that is going on. CPU/memory usage is well within the norm during normal use and RuntimeBroker.exe doesn't seem to be consuming much of my computer's resources.
Any one have any ideas on how to go about addressing this issue?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Generally, this kind of restart is triggered by the auto Windows Update.
Was your computer workgroup or domain joined?
If that's not Home edition, please use the group policy to schedule the auto-restart:
Manage device restarts after updates
/en-us/windows/deployment/update/waas-restart

Who is "Owner"? Is that you or someone else who uses the system?
The event 1074 with the process Runtimebroker.exe is logged if a user clicks on Start > Power > Restart.
If the user right-clicks on Start > Shut down or Sign Out > Restart then the same Event ID appears but the process is Explorer.exe instead of Runtimebroker.exe.
Hope this helps!
