So we re using Azure Machines for Testing and Demo Purposes with Dynamics AX .
Since 2 Days, they randomly (about once an hour) stop and shut down. VERY annoying! and Potentially destroying hours of work. Really not good.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any Reason?

Hi
Try to stop the VM and download the vhd and create a Hyper-V in your Local computer for view what is going.

I am experiencing the same !
Azure with Dynamic AX , implemented with the lifecycle tool.
For the least 3 hours, I received 2 random shutdowns for no obvious reasons. Besides, I dont know if is has some connection but when I was testing the development/test version of the AX I didn't have the shutdowns, it only start happening when I re-deployed for a Demo Involvement.

Ok, I got the why.
The process C:\Windows\system32\wlms\wlms.exe (AX2012R2A) has initiated the shutdown of computer AX2012R2A on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Other (Planned)
Reason Code: 0x80000000
Shutdown Type: shutdown
Comment: The license period for this installation of Windows has expired. The operating system is shutting down.
.... is supposed to be like that ? The dev/test was okey, but the demo version dont have the license for trial ?

I found this answer.
Activating the server will solve this problem permanently, but for meanwhile I re-armed the activation using this command:
with a cmd with admin privilage type ->
Slmgr.vbs -rearm
restart...
:)

okay. still odd thoug. the cost of licence should be included in the VM , not?

As far as I know the license is not included in Azure VM. It is trial of typically 30-180 days. You have to purchase license separately.
