Question

Hi,
I have tried to delete two resource groups in my subscription. I have tried powershell scripts and using the portal. No matter what I do the resource groups are not getting deleted. The resource groups are eating into my billing as they are not getting deleted. I tried to delete each item in the resource group but the option to delete the VM is greyed out. :(
As I am on an MSDN subscription I cannot raise a support request. How do I escalate this to get this resolved?

This has been resolved now by the product team. I have deleted the resource group.
If you encounter this issue then raise a support ticket as this should not happen ordinarily.

Hi Satheesh ,
Ideally the option for deleting the VM should not be greyed out that might be a timely issue. Recommend you to try in New portal (portal.azure.com ) and check if you can delete the VM . As the storage accounts and VM should be deleted before removing the Resource manager.
Resource Groups are not deleted even after you delete all the resources attached to a Resource Group. The idea behind this is, that you can reuse them without creating them from the scratch. However, you may try to use this powershell script that might help resolve your purpose.
You can also refer the link below which talks about the similar kind of issue.
Regards.

May I am not making this clear. In the attached screenshots the portal.azure.com raises an error that I cannot delete a network provider because a virtual machine is attached to it. In the resource page I cannot see any virtual machine at all.

I have the same issue. How do I alert the product team about this issue?

I have the exact same issue as Sateesh, I deleted everything from the resource group, but the resource group won't remove because it says there are still connected items. There are no connected items at all. I just have a pay as you go account with no support, so I am out of luck? This stale data is stuck there forever?
