Cannot paste content to Windows Server VM?

Question

Sunday, February 8, 2015 4:16 AM

Hi,

I try my two machines, Windows 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1, to connect my Windows 2012 R2 VM (Standard SKU).

But I found out I can't paste content form my local PC to that VM, the pasted content can only from that VM.

I use the RDP file downloaded from Azure portal, and check Resources/Clipboard, it's already checked.

Do I miss something?

Hi,

It is impossible to paste a local content to an Azure VM directly.

If you want to use your local file in Azure VM, you can do that in Remote Desktop Connection dialog box. If you are using a Windows OS local computer, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Remote Desktop Connection, and then, in the list of results, click Remote Desktop Connection.
  2. Click Options, and then click the Local Resources tab.
  3. Under Local devices and resources, select the driver which contains the files you want to use in the Azure VM.

After you RDP into the VM, then the selected local driver would be displaying on your Azure VM.

In the general page, please type the computer name using the format: xxx.cloudapp.net:3389(RDP port in endpoint).

Best regards,

Susie
