Enabling DirectX for RDC

Question

Tuesday, February 10, 2015 5:53 PM

According to this article: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2009/06/19/changes-to-remoting-model-in-rdp-7.aspx RDP supports DirectX.  However, when I use Remote Desktop Connection to connect from one Windows 7 computer to another Windows 7 computer, there is no DirectX.  Not even the 3D screensavers work.  How do I enable DirectX?

OK, but to clarify, after doing more of my own research, it seems it's impossible to enable DirectX with a Windows 7 Professional host.  It would require Windows 7 Enterprise, per this article: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2012/11/26/remotefx-features-for-windows-8-and-windows-server-2012.aspx

Is that correct?
