can we have two server in different domain with same host name but with different IP in the same network?

Hi,
This could possibly lead to problems, but if the two (2) servers are not communicating with each other at all it should work. According to best practices you should always assign different names if only possible.

Hi,
Yes, you can have the same hostname for the two server. They will have different FQDN so both of them can be resolved.
However, this may lead to problems since the default NetBIOS name of a host is the same as its hostname.
For example, if you install a site system server for a hostname of "server" in site1.contoso.com and you have a computer named server.site2.contoso.com, your DNS server for site2.contoso.com is going to resolve "server" to the computer in site2.contoso.com (which isn't what you want).
