Question

Hello,
I am currently trying to install windows7 on a HP Elitebook 820 through PXE.
What happens is that after the first restart attempt, after disk partition and applying windows 7 image and drivers i get error: File: ifM63x64.sys
Status: 0xc0000098
Info: Cannot start Windows because of file missing or corrupt.
Anyone got an idea? The file "ifM63x64.sys" is the "Intel Ethernet FCoE Virtual Storport Miniport Driver".
I have tried both with and without that driver in my driver package for that machine model with same result.
Regards,
Sindre Winsvold

Not sure if it is exactly the same issue as this is with MDT, but might be worth checking this out:

Not sure I actually understood the "answer" there. But I have found out that the problem for sure lies in my driver package. But both when remove and include the Intel Ethernet FCoE Virtual Storport Miniport Driver I get this error. When disabling this driver package in my task sequence it works fine. Isn't removing the driver from the package and updating distribution point enough?
Any input is appreciated.

After removing the driver from the package, are you updating the distribution points? That may explain why it still causes an issue after you remove it but then works if you disable the driver package.

Search this name "ifM63x64" in the Driver Package you are making and delete the files that comes with this name.
If you are using Standalone Bootable USB, search it in the USB
If you are using a Bootable CD, search it in the Driver Package in your Server

Found two of these (different versions) in my WinPE x64 folder.
Intel NetTrans anspw60e.inf
The .inf file pointed to ifM63x64. I disabled these drivers, completely regenerated the boot images and retried. FYI it's classed as NetTrans.
Really don't need FCoE support in WinPE!

I'm having the same error, but i dont have any of this drivers in my deployment share. I already try to deploy an image without any driver (only SO), the image goes very well but when the machine is starting up shows this error:
File: ifM63x64.sys
Status: 0xc0000098
Can someone help

I had the same issue with exact same driver file, I located its location in Driver Catalog and disabled the driver. That machine then started to use another driver for that piece of hardware.

I was thinking about the ADK. Can i deploy Windows 7 with ADK 10? Because i already configured another clean machine with MDT 2013 with ADK 10 without any drivers and get the exactly same error.

ADK has nothing to do with this problem. But offtopic yes, Win7 & ADK 10 are good together.

I figured out this problem. The driver was in the WIM image as part of the SO, so I removed from the folder C:\Windows\System32\Drivers and DriverStore.

Search this file ifM63x64.sys in Drivers Group in WDS or MDT , and disable this file or remove.
and re-install from WDS / MDT server , should be allright.
