Question
Thursday, April 23, 2020 3:56 PM
I'm trying to remove AD LDS. I'm not sure why it's installed and think it may be causing some issues. I've tried uninstalling using Server Manager, to no avail. Powershell is returning the message below and the log produced follows that. I'm not sure how to interpret it or where else to look.
Thanks,
PS C:\Windows\system32> uninstall-windowsfeature -name adlds -logpath c:\temp\adlds.log

Hello Andy,
As it turns out, this server has many problems. I thought uninstalling the AD LDS feature might fix a problem. However, it will not remove any feature. I have tried to remove Remote Web Management, Desktop Experience, and Ink and Handwriting, but they will not uninstall. MS updates will not install updates. The last update was KB4523208 on 12/2/2019. Every time I download and install an update, it stays pending restart. After restart it says updates available for same update. The server will not connect new devices. Of course I can join new devices to the domain, but they cannot be managed from the Dashboard or be backed up.
I'm just trying to find the common element that is causing all these problems. Rebuilding the server is not an option currently.
Thank you.

2.there are so many issue,so it is possible to restore backup to the normal state 12/2/2019?
if the answer is no ,we think we can try to fix the update issue first.
3.we can run below command in command prompt(open as admin) then check it can find the system issue.
sfc scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Now type the following commands to stop Windows Update Services and then hit Enter after each one:
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
Next, type the following command to rename SoftwareDistribution Folder and then hit Enter:
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
Finally, type the following command to start Windows Update Services and hit Enter after each one:
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
Reboot your server to save changes.
4Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system
if the problem persist ,we can post new case about each issue.
