Question

hello;
I have been trying to resolve this issue for a very long time. I have a levnovo NAS drive on my network. the NAS has several Shares or Network folders set up on it, i.e. Photos, backup, music, videos. When this computer (Windows 10) was initially set up I opened the file browser, and on the left side of that window there is a link for "network". Initially when I set up the computer all of the Drives/Shares appeared in the network and so did the NAS drive as "ix2". after the very first major upgrade to Windows 10, the drives/Shares that I had mapped still appear but the "ix2" does not appear in Network anymore. In addition any new drives/shares that I create do not appear in Network so I can map them to my computer.
Can someone help me, this is very frustrating and I have not been able to find a solution in over a year...

That is a pretty old design. My guess is that it relies on Samba/SMB1, and that is disabled by default in Windows 10 current versions because of its security risks.
You could check if that is the problem by manually enabling SMB1 in Windows 10 from Control Panel>Programs & Features>Turn Windows features on or off.
See this similar post.

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Do you means you can see your NAS until update to windows 10?
It maybe caused by the update of windows 10.
You can try to restart the service and check whether the issue still exist.
I found a video that may help you, please check it for some assistance.

I have had a very difficult time trying to describe this issue. What is going on is that when I initially set up this computer It showed my external network storage device as a computer with the name IX-2. if I clicked on it I could map the folders I created on it as Drives and assign a drive letter to them, I then mapped additional drives this way from the Network Storage device to this computer. so when you look at my computer (in the file explorer, Left side of the window) it shows mapped drives G, H, I, J, C, D.
C and D are local drives (inside the computer i.e. hard drive and DVD drive) and G H I and J are on the external drive connected though my small network. After Windows 10 updated to the newer version last year, I have not been able to add any new drives I create on my external Network Storage Device (the IX-2). for example, I have created new B drive and an M drive on the External Storage Device, but I am unable to Map them to my PC because the IX-2 no longer shows up in the Network as a computer. However G, H, I and J still show in the file explorer just like the local C and D and they are still accessible.
The External Drive is a the Lenovo IX-2 NAS Drive

You hit the Nail right on the head It is a matter of SMB1. I have this drive segregated from the internet and only access it with my network computers. So what I did was turn on SMB1 long enough to Map the drive letter I wanted to access and then Turned it off so it does not compromise my desktop computer when it is accessing the internet. here are the instruction on doing that very simple task, however it does require a restart.
