Is it possible to open a previous version of a document without restoring it? We have users wanting to compare the current version with previous ones. I can't find any way to open a previous version without restoring which would overwrite the current version. Selecting the previous version modified date and choosing View only show properties of the file.

Hey,
There is one option to compare two versions of a document from SP, this can be done after checking-out the document and comparing versions in the document directly.
check this link, this might help : http://tipsforsharepoint.blogspot.com/2009/08/compare-document-versions-in-word-2007.html .
