Question
Wednesday, May 17, 2017 5:39 PM
I have installed Visual Studio Professional 2017. The IDE and Blend. The IDE works just fine. However, when I try to open up Blend, the application hangs at the startup splash screen. I tried uninstalling from the VS 2017 installation app and then re-installing, still it hangs. Rebooted...still hangs. There must be a better way to completely uninstall the application, force a fresh download and reinstallation. It's running on s Win 7 box (yep, I work for a big, slow moving corporation). Any suggestions?
Michael

Hi Michael,
Welcome to MSDN forum.
Blend installed as part of the Desktop Development workload, select or deselect the workloads that you want to install or uninstall.
Please have a look at this: https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/36026/blend-for-vs2017-crash-on-startup.html
WARNING: this WILL reset blend settings!
go to C:\Users\user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Blend\15.0_c2edcfdc
and delete privateregistry.bin
launch blend, the 'setting things up' screen will appear, after its done (took ~30 secs for me). Blend setting will be reset.
Best regards,
Joyce

I can't modify the installation. I guess I have to uninstall completely to add the other options. I think this is a bug.
