This problem may occur if a file that the Windows Product Activation (WPA) requires is damaged or missing. This behavior occurs if one or both of the following conditions are true:
- A third-party backup utility or an antivirus program interferes with the installation of Windows XP.
- A file that WPA requires is manually modified.
I would run a system file check and change to a different Malware app
Please run a system file check (SFC) & DISM if you are on win 8 or higher

Hi georgeraul,
What is your current situation?
Please take a try with the command suggested by Team Zigzag.
Also take a look into Event Viewer, if any related error logged, please upload it into OneDrive and then post the shared link here.
Regards

I get this error when trying to install the Windows 10 Anniversary update. Windows Update does not yet show this, so am using the app posted on the MS website. I have tried all of the above, plus several other suggestions, like the following.
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
net stop cryptsvc
At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press Enter after each command:
ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old
ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
net start wuauserv
net start bits
net start cryptsvc
None of these found any problem to fix. It is windows 10 Home 32 bit ( Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586]). If it helps any, I also have a problem creating a disk image on this same system with this error "Device is not ready (0x80070015)"
I'm at a loss as what to try next. Tried the update 7 or 8 times so far. Would a system Repair do any good?
