I'm trying to copy all my pictures off of my hard drive onto a 3T external hard drive. I have very little disk space remaining on my hard drive. I am coping FROM my C hard drive TO an external hard drive with 3tb of space. When I try this I get an "Interrupted Action" error reading: "There is not enough space on OneDrive. You need an additional 7.52 GB to copy these files". What?? Why on earth would anyone care how much space I have on the FROM location??? This is a brand new, out of the box, WD 3TB external hard drive. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug? How do I get around it?

Simple reason,external HD is not Active..Also,most all Windows 10 havw Storage driver/software set in default with the OS..Go to youre pc mfg to get storage & Chipset software-Driver..As with the error,in run type: diskmgmt.msc
in msc,L.click on the drive/go up to Actions/All/Make Active close out msc,restart pc.Also,with most external & USB Flash drives,one might/should R.click on the drive/delete partition/create one/format/format in NTSB default settings,then use above cmds to Activate.

We could try to change a new hard drive to copy the files and check the symptom.

Hi,
I do not see anywhere All/Make Active as you have stated. I am getting frustrated with Windows 10 because just to copy 20GB to external HD, I need more than 20GB free on the local HD. How stupid is that. Why would windows do such a inane thing to require the same amount of free space on the local HD to copy to another location. I really need help with this as my surface pro 6 has limited SSD and I need to keep it backed up to an external HD. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue. I have one drive folder of 28gb that I want to backup to a USB drive which has 500gb of space. But it tries seems to want to copy the one drive folder via my PC first which fails as there is only 9gb available on the PC.

I've had the same issue recently, but have found a possible workaround:
1) Open the command prompt (may need to Run As Administrator depending on where you are copying to/from)
2) Type robocopy "source folder" "destination folder"
e.g.
robocopy "C:\foldercontainingfilestocopy" "E:\foldertocopyto"
