Windows cant find License Terms

Question

Thursday, December 7, 2017 10:01 AM

Hi

Have been trying to install Windows Server 2016 Preview on an HP prolant DL20, GEN9 server.

Everything is fine untill the final installation where i get an error saying Windows cant find License terms. Then it aborts the installation.

All the fixes for this i have found are for VM-ware or hyper-v installations but i run it directly on an normal server without any of that stuff.

What shall i do?

Regards

/Håkan

Could be a corrupt download. Also might be something in the way intelligent provisioning works (creates additional virtual floppies?)

Hi,

If you install Windows Server 2016 Preview for test, or anything else?

If possible, Microsoft Evaluation Center provide free trial version of Windows Server 2016(not TP version), you can re-download ISO file from below link and try to install again to check the result:

ISPs employ internet caching devices at various locations. If you think the download is corrupt then in order to avoid downloading the same cached copy over and over you should try from another location (local coffee shop)

I have no reason to think it is corrupt. I have downloaded it two times. I have tried 2 different usb-sticks. And two different ways of makeing the USB to an install media. I have also used iLO4 to install directly from the ISO. But i end up with exactly the same error.

I can download it at home to see if it helps but i think that is a long shot tho.

I'd start a new thread detailing your issues.

I had same issue today on 2 new DL380 GEN10's with Server 2016 Standard. I updated IP to version 3.10 and went with "assisted installation". This solved it. Try to use Int. Prov. when you can so as not to get array controller driver issues. I used the "blue Microsoft DVD" on one server and a USB trial 2016 ISO on the second. Both worked.

I called in for assistance to HPE using Proliant. We changed boot order to boot from ISO, but had drivers. google:

HPE Smart Array Gen10 Controller Driver for Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2019

you should find it.

Issue was once the iso would actually read (you can't do assisted install or it will fail) it would not read the drives. Having this driver allowed it to see the drives and install on them. Hope this helps!

I would highly recommend calling in though if you are stuck, they helped me in record time.
