Events 7031 & 7034, Service Control Manager: The XXX service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

Question

I have a fresh copy of Windows 10 Anniversary Edition installed. I have been checking the event logs and from time to time I see a bunch of 7031 & 7034 events all for "Service Control Manager".  Each event has a different service but the error is always the same: "The XXX service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service."  Examples of services (XXX) are:

Application Information

Computer Browser

Certificate Propagation

Delivery Optimization

IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules

IP Helper

Server

Geolocation

User Profile Service

Task Scheduler

System Event Notification Service

Remote Desktop Configuration

Shell Hardware Detection

Themes

User Manager

Windows Management Instrumentation

Update Orchestrator Service for Windows Update

Windows Update

Windows Push Notifications System Service

Windows Insider Service

A couple minutes later, I see a bunch of 7032 events with this description: "The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Restart the service) after the unexpected termination of the XXX service, but this action failed with the following error: An instance of the service is already running."

In this case, the services are a subset of the ones listed above.

Server

IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules

User Profile Service

Computer Browser

Windows Management Instrumentation

Any ideas why this is happening or how to resolve?

Hi,

As Team ZigZag said, use DISM command to repair system image at first, also make sure system is up to date.

There are two articles introduces Event 7031 and Event 7034, check them for information

I have exactly the same issue as described.

SFC and DISM found no issues and a system reset has not resolved the issue.

It appears to be related to Windows 10 AU.

I have the same issue.

I have upgraded my Windows 10 Pro (build 1511) to Windows 10 AU and the system becomes unstable with many system services that has crashed with error 7034.

I have tried tho run SFC and DISM but nothing changed.

Then I have reinstalled a fresh copy of the latest ISO of Windows 10 AU and at the first logon, all the system services has crashed with the same error.

This is a list of all services that crashes with a clean installa of Windows 10 AU:

...and many other thins

The same things happened on another PC.

I think that Windows 10 AU has serious problems.

Already done that, still having random restarts when I am not at the computer, 7034 event ID at time of issue. Ran the scans you mentioned and made sure windows was fully updated. Going back to windows 8 as I see this is a continuing problem you guys have not been able to resolve.

Just received a new laptop with Windows 10 1809 and getting The Update Orchestrator Service service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 10 time(s).

I have updates Pending download but never begins the download.  Event Viewer would suggest a Windows Update Issue.  EventID 7034 - "The Update Orchestrator Service service terminated unexpectedly"  I've run SFC with no help.  What paramaters do I use to run DISM?
