BITLOCKER: How to save BEK file in Windows 10?

Question

Wednesday, May 25, 2016 5:52 PM

I am in an enterprise environment and my team used to save .TXT & .BEK files when we enable bitlocker in a Windows 7 machine. Not all of our machines are in the domain, besides from a the Admin shared folder we also save them in a flash drive locked in a secure location. Now with Windows 10 we are only able to save the .TXT file but not .BEK. Is the .bek still available to save in this new windows os version? Been scouring the internet for few days now and still not able to find an answer.

I also played and ran the cli

manage-bde -protectors -add C: -TPMandPINandStartupKey -tp <ab234@#$password> -tsk Z:

Love to see some CLI or know some apps that can help me save these .txt and .bek files. Great day to all...

Hi JBD973,

Well, as I can't perform the test to save Recovery password into USB drive, so I can't tell whether would the Bek file could be created.

Saving Recovery Password to network share would only have the txt files on Windows 10.

In addition, check the thread below:

Take a try with the command mentioned, see if it would help.
