Question

Hello,
I'm having an issue with sending faxes from Outlook using the Windows Fax Printer and "Fax Mail Transport" Outlook interface. I have a profile set up with "Fax Mail Transport" added as an Email account and it's using the built-in Windows Fax Printer. This is Office 2003 and Windows XP (sorry if I'm addressing the wrong crowd) and it's been working fine up until a few weeks ago. Nothing to our knowledge has changed and I have several PC's running with this same configuration that don't have this problem. What happens is the fax (created as an email message) goes to the Outbox, but then fails with an error of the following:
The Microsoft Fax transport failed to deliver the message to the recipient. The message body cannot be printed
I can send a fax manually using the Fax console and also from other applications by printing manually to the Fax Printer, but just not by using the Outlook intervace and sending the fax as if it were an email (Outlook translates it to a fax).
Things I've tried:
- Creating a new Outlook Profile
- Uninstalling/Reinstalling Office
- Uninstalling/Reinstalling the Windows Fax Printer
I haven't tried re-loading Windoes, but was really hoping not to have to do that. What does work is reverting back to a disk image created about 2 weeks ago, but something seems to be on a slow path to destruction as it lasted for about 10 days and then started failing again to where we had to re-apply the disk image backup again. Maybe a new Windows update causing it to fail?
Just wondering if anybody had a suggestion or another idea on this.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Hi,
To add the Shared Fax Mail Transport service to an Outlook 2003 profile:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Mail.
2. Click E-mail Accounts. Click View or change existing accounts if you are adding the transport to an existing profile, or click Add a new e-mail account to create a new profile. Click Next.
3. Click Additional Server Types, and then click Add.
4. On the "Additional Server Types" page, click Microsoft Shared Fax Mail Transport, and then click Next. Remove the Fax Mail Transport service from the list of server types.
5. On the E-mail Accounts page, click Finish.
6. Click Close.
Sincerely

Was any solution found to this problem? I have the exact same problem when trying to send an Outlook 2010 message to a Fax address. I have deleted/recreated the Fax Mail Transport account more than once to no avail.
