SharePoint 2010 - Unable to view list in Datasheet View

Question

Tuesday, August 2, 2016 7:07 PM

Ok, after 2 hours+ of my own troubleshooting, I've decided to actually post my issue.  Here is the background of what I've already done:

OS - Windows 7 64-Bit
Office - 2013 32-Bit
Internet Explorer - 11 32-Bit
Access 2013 - 32-Bit
SharePoint - 2010 (also Designer 2010 32-Bit)

Alright, that covers all the specs I can think of.

Here's the deal, I never had an issue accessing datasheet view prior to today.  My PC has not had anything new installed prior to this problem.

I have 2013 Office installed and using 2010 SharePoint Foundation.

The button 'Datasheet View' is available on the site but when clicked on I get this error:

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons:
- A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.
- Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
- A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.

Upon research, I found several threads, where the prevailing suggestion was to install 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components.  That didn't work.  I installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, tried to repair, etc.  No combination worked.

I then stumbled upon a more recent version published by Microsoft 1 month ago (Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable), but it did not resolve my issue either.  I still have the exact same error message.

I have double and triple checked to ensure I was accessing the Internet Explorer from the x86 folder, still have this problem.  I'm about ready to break my laptop over my knee.

I have ensured all ActiveX settings are set to enabled.

I have ensured my SharePoint site root URL is in the Trusted Sites security group.

I'm at a loss.  This was all working fine previously.

Hi tgood12,

According to  your description, you run into the error when opening the list with datasheet view.

Please check the things below for narrowing down this issue.

1. Try to open list in other browser/machine.

2. Have you added any customizations to the list/site? Does this issue only happen on a specific list/site? Create a new web application and a new site, make sure they are using the OOTB templates, then check if the issue occurs.

Hi tgood- this sounds like a browser issue. Are you running IE in compatibility mode? You should. Also make sure ALL SharePoint add ons are enabled. Disable any third party add ons. See if those steps make a difference.
