How to decode Office 365 ProPlus Build/version numbers?

Question

Thursday, November 17, 2016 4:16 PM

I was wondering if anyone knows how to decode the numbers in the versions and build numbers?

When I open Word and go to account I get the following numbers:

Office Updates version: 16.0.6965.2092

Then in "About Word" I see Microsoft Word 2016 MSO (16.0.6925.1041) 32-bit

I've found a TechNet web page that shows Version and build information for update channel releases.

they look like:

Version 1605 (Build 6965.2105)  and Version 1609 (Build 7369.2055)

I've found some information about past versions of Office but nothing that makes sense of Office 365 ProPlus.

Thanks for any help or redirection.

Hi,

>>Version 1605 (Build 6965.2105)  and Version 1609 (Build 7369.2055)<<

It means the Office update version: 16.0.6965.2105 and 16.0.7369.2055.

Generally, for the Office 2016 version of Office 365 ProPlus, Microsoft provides you three options, called update channels, to control how often Office 365 ProPlus is updated with new features. Each update channel that Microsoft releases has a version and build number assigned to it.

The following is a list of the lastest current version and build number for each update channel currently:

Current Channel: Version 1610 (Build 7466.2038), released on November 10, 2016

Deferred Channel: Version 1605 (Build 6965.2105), released on November 8, 2016

First Release for Deferred Channel: Version 1609 (Build 7369.2055), released on November 8, 2016

For detailed Version and build numbers of update channel releases for Office 365 clients, please refer to: https://technet.microsoft.com/library/mt592918.aspx#BKMK_ByDate                                                       Additionally, we can follow the article below for Office 365 client update channel releases: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/mt465751?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
