Question

I have an activated retail version of Office Professional Plus. Recently, I have started getting the "sorry we are having some temporary server issues" (in every office product: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) for anything that requires office to connect with office online. I can't switch or log out of my account, I can't interact with connected services, I can't open a skydrive doc on my locally installed office apps, I can't even access the online help in any locally installed office product. All actions result in the same error "sorry we are having some temporary server issues". It has been happening for about a week now. I have windows 8. I have tried a "clean reboot" and it did not help. I don't even know where to start to troubleshoot this problem.

I'm having the exact same issue as well. I'm showing Office 365 Home Premium on the MS Account subscriptions but when the windows asking for my email address appears to link my install to my account it instead says "Sorry we are having temporary server issues" With a Try Again button that does nothing and a Cancel button that closes the window.

I had the same issue as you and found a solution online - you might have found it as well.
In the registry editor (regedit.exe), you find HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\WebServiceCache\AllUsers\office15client.microsoft.com
Delete all the subfolders of the ...\office15client.microsoft.com folder. This should immediately fix the problem.
