RuntimeBroker errors (event ID 10016) - correct permissions do not work

Question

Thursday, January 11, 2018 4:46 PM

Hello,

I've been digging around the internet for quite some time now and am still unable to find a solution to this problem :

Event Observer has entries for events 10016 related to RuntimeBroker typically.

I already tried to fix the parameters in the DCOM applet for the user triggering the error after changing the permissions for the following registry keys (RuntimeBroker related) :

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\9CA88EE3-ACB7-47c8-AFC4-AB702511C276}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}

With no results, error still happens.

The error is generated whenever I open the start menu and stay on it "long enough", generally about a few seconds when the live tiles start to animate.

I hope someone around here will have had a similar problem and found a fix.

Cheers.

Please check this case, on 1709 version, try the method that comes from Tony MCP on Saturday, September 16, 2017 12:38 AM.
