Creating new list based on uploaded stp list template

Hi colleagues!

I have made a template including contents to move a list from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online. I downloaded the .stp file, then uploaded the file to list templates on SharePoint online.

I expected to see the template when creating a new app but it is not on the list. What else should I do?

Hi Kauveh,

I have done a test in my environment and it works fine. I’m using a team site in SharePoint Online. Make sure if the issue is related to the type of site you are using in the SP Online.

You may check below things for narrowing your issue:

1. Upload the stp file to another site collection in SharePoint Online and check if you can use it when creating a new app. 

2. Make sure if the stp file has been uploaded into the list template gallery successfully.

3. Check if you have activated the "Team Collaboration Lists" feature.

Below is my steps:

1. Go to SP 2016 List Settings and save the list as a template (including its contents).

2. Go to Site Settings > List templates. In the List Template Gallery, select the check box in front of the list template which I have saved before, and then click list Tools and select "Download a Copy". Save the stp file locally on my computer.

3. Go to SPO site > Site Settings > List templates. In the List Template Gallery, upload the list template.

The list template is now present in the List templates gallery of the SPO site collection. When I create a new app, I can select this list.
