Question

Hi all
Experiencing an issue with Word and downloading online pictures through Bing.
This is only happening to some pictures, at random times.
I've tried this through a filtered and unfiltered proxy and it makes no difference.
I can however access the pictures through the browser and download them successfully on the problem PCs without any issue.
It's only through Word that this is occurring.

Hi all this issue has been solved.
Turned out to be a particular IE setting in GPO which was stopping the download of some photos.
That needed to be changed first then the old profiles had to be deleted. Thankfully we use Desktop Redirection so no files are saved locally.

Hi,
From the description, you get the "Sorry, we couldn't download the picture(s) you selected" error when you try to insert online pictures via Insert tab > Online Pictures, am I correct?
Does this issue happen to random PCs or certain PCs?
Please try repairing the Office installation on these problematic PCs and then check if this issue continues. For your convenience:
In addition, some community members who have a similar issue were able to fix it via resetting IE settings. If possible, you may also have a try. To do this, go to Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab, and then pressing the Reset button. Please note that this will reset your IE settings to their default condition.

Hi Steve
Thanks for your reply.
Interestingly after resetting the IE settings on a problem PC, now when trying to insert an 'online picture', Internet Explorer (Windows 8.1) or Edge (Windows 10) now opens up to insertmedia.bing.office.net/odc/insertmedia instead of the default box.
Repairing Word doesn't fix the issue either unfortunately, I've tried to reimage two PCs with Windows 10 and Office 2016 and they both are having the same issue.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you
Adam

Can you elaborate on the particular IE Setting? Was it changed on the domain controller or was it changed on the desktop?
Thank you.

Typical when an issue is solved someone posts the solution!!!
The setting that was causing the issue with Bing images in Word "sorry we couldn't download the picture" is in Internet Explorer. Internet Settings\Advanced Tab\Security\Do not save encrypted page to disk unchecked
In GPO\User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Internet Settings\Advanced Tab\Security\Do not save encrypted page to disk unchecked.

Hi,
In my case, if Administrator logs <g class="gr_ gr_104 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" data-gr-id="104" id="104">in to</g> the same computer where "Do not save encrypted page to disk" is checked, it works but not in case of ordinary users. Is there any specific reason for this?

So I really need to know. Should it be unchecked or checked. I just started having the can't download the picture issue recently. Up until now it worked perfectly. I don't know what changed. My "do not saved encrypted pages to disk is unchecked. I tried the reset in IE and it did not help. What else can I do? I create a newsletter for our club and I really need that function to work. Can someone help?
