Hi,

Only General and Filover tag. There are no "DNS".

Is any different ??

Thanks

Hi,

please follow my steps and do not something different!
In cluster management go to "Roles" and select your fileserver.
At the bottom switch to tag "Ressources" and open the properties of the cluster fileserver Name.

There you can change the DNS Name.

Do NOT open the properties of the HKNASS fileserver cluster Group!!!

Hi,

have you taken the Cluster offline after you renamed it?

Check this:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc757533(v=ws.10).aspx
"The new name does not take effect until the Cluster Name resource is taken offline and brought back online.  The Cluster Name resource is found in the Cluster Group resource group in a newly created cluster."

Hi,

have you also renamed the DNS name? Or only the ressource name?

Please also delete DNS cache before testing again.

Hi,

in cluster management go to "Roles" and select your fileserver.
At the bottom switch to Register "Ressources" and open the properties of the server Name.

There you can change the DNS Name.

Hi,

For connections from any node in the cluster, the new name can be used almost immediately. However, for connections using the new name from a client computer, the new name cannot be used to connect to the server until the new name is visible to that client computer. The length of time required for the new name to be propagated across a network can be a few seconds, or as long as 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the network configuration; additional time may be required before the old virtual server name is no longer visible on the network.

To minimize network propagation delay of a virtual server renaming operation, use the following steps:

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

nbtstat –RR
