RemoteAPP black screen/cut off

Question

Thursday, December 12, 2019 2:16 PM

Had an issue come up recently and I am not sure to fix it. We use RemoteApp for an ERP Program.

We are setup with the following:

10 Terminal Servers Windows 2012 R2 with office 2010, latest updates from Windows and Office. Each server runs our ERP program. All connect to a central DB

1 Mananament server

1 Connection Broker

Users PC is windows 10

Users PC connect to the Terminal server via remoteapp URL and can see the icons. For some reason, users are getting the program chopped off or black screen in certain areas.

Tried the following to fix:

I tried to update there display drivers on the PC. Got the same issue

Updated the Terminal servers and still got the same issue.

Tried to see if this is isolated to one Terminal Server, but its happens on all of them.

Not sure what else to look at.

Switch from 32bit to 24bit colours and it will let you connect as normal. All other settings can be left on their defaults.

Others things can be done:

Try connecting at a different resolution.

Update display drivers, both on the connecting machine and on the machine you are connecting too.

Start a new RDP client on your desktop but BEFORE you click CONNECT, click the SHOW OPTIONS link, click the DISPLAY tab and set the DISPLAY CONFIGURATION to a low resolution like 640×480.

Try turning off Fast Startup

Disable bitmap caching for your RDP connections

Hi,

If possible, please try to publish system built-in program, such as Notepad, Paint and confirm that if such problem also happens on other published application. It would be helpful to identify whether it is specific application relate.

Besides, in general, published app within RDS deployment should be multi-sessions compatible. I would recommend you to contact the application’s provider and confirm with them about the details.

Sorry for the late reply. I ran some dell PC updates on the users computer. Waiting on confirmation if the problem is still there. The display driver was from 2015.

I did not run an update on the RDP machine because it is a virtual machine.

Try to add paint but didnt get the same results. But Paint and our ERP program are 2 different things. I cant compare them. Looking driver updates at the moment.

Hi,

If problem only happens on specific program/application, it is recommended to contact the program’s developer/supporter and confirm with them about the compatibility for multi-session RDS environment.
