Question
Sunday, May 10, 2020 9:47 PM
Greetings,
I have a Windows 10 1809 box that keeps going into lock screen after 15 minutes. These Group Policy settings apply (and I have confirmed that through RSOP):
Interactive logon: Machine Inactivity Limit = 0 seconds
Do not display the lock screen: Enabled
Power management: turn off hard disk = 0,sleep timeout = 0,turn off display = 0
Enable screen saver: disabled
If I go to the Windows 10 box in question and look at the lock screen settings it clearly says:
Screen timeout settings = 'never', Screen saver = none.
What else could be causing auto lockout please?
Thanks
David Z

Im not aware of settings in the grahpic card or monitor but those settings may indeed turn off the display but they would not lock the computer. What is happening is that the computer is being locked after 15 minutes requiring ctrl-alt-del with user and password to unlock.

Ok, press winlogo + R on your keyboard then type NETPLWIZ then ok go to advanced tab go down if you see
require users to press ctrl+Alt+ delete checked then uncheck and reboot your computer and let see if it happens.

That setting is required and is enforced for all users via group policy. But its the locking thing that is still the problem whether ctrl-alt-del is required or not. Our group policy clearly has:
Interactive logon: Machine Inactivity Limit = 0 seconds
Do not display the lock screen: Enabled
but the machine is still being locked.

Hi,
I did a test in my lab, under the Computer Configuration \ Policies \ Administrative Templates \ System \ Power Management \ Video and Display Settings\Turn Off the Display (Plugged in). To disable the lock, enable this setting and change the value of Turn Off the Display (Seconds) to 0.
Once the policy applied, the computer won't be locked automatically.
If possible ,would you please check the gpresult again by command : gpresult /h report.html and check if any errors happened.
Best Regards,
Fan

If you are not aware Ctrl+Alt+del activated locks the screen.

That setting is already applied.

Do you have any Microsoft doc reference for that? The doco for
Interactive logon: Machine Inactivity Limit = 0 seconds
says it will definitely not lock the computer at all.
Nothing above says it will lock after 15 minutes.

Hi,
Any updates for the issue?
If possible , would you please share a screenshot of the gpresult /h for the GPO?
Tip: If private information is involved in the screenshot, it is recommended to blur sensitive information.

Unfortunately Im working at a secure site and am not allowed to share any information. I ran a gpresult in the GPMC and confirmed that the computer did indeed get all the settings I mentioned in my original question.
