IIS Compatibility with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise

Question

Monday, September 18, 2017 2:09 PM

I am going to use industrial PC products of a company that is supposed to use Window 10 IoT Enterprise on their next generation systems. I wonder if it is possible to install the full-featured IIS or at least IIS Express on Windows 10 IoT Enterprise? Please also let me know whether Node.js is compatible with the OS or not?

Hi,

As the description about Window 10 IoT Enterprise says “Windows 10 IoT Enterprise brings a the full Windows experience to embedded devices, enabling OEMs to quickly create high-performance devices that deliver a familiar and secure experience to their customers.”

So I think you could get a same experience with the normal Enterprise version, and it is available to use IIS features as enterprise.

Try to enable IIS through Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\Turn Windows features on or off.

“Please also let me know whether Node.js is compatible with the OS or not?”

As the limitation of my test environment, we can't test this on my side. However, according to my research, Node.js is compatibility with Windows 10 Enterprise, so I think  it should be compatibility with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.

Best regards,

Joy.

Hi Joy,

Thanks for your detailed answer. I will be able to figure out the Node.js compatibility as soon as I receive the new devices, which should not be more than a few months as of now.

Best,

Just wondering how this turned out.  Does Windows IoT Enterprise support IIS?  Thanks.
