What happened to the vertical scrollbar in code editing window? It just disappeared. Is it just me and my laptop? Very difficult to go up and down the screen when coding.

Hi,
I've just noticed version 16.4.5 has been released (downloading now...).
Please try:
- update to 16.4.5
- repair VS 2019
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\vs_installer.exe" (in my environments)

Hi Marilyn,
Welcome to MSDN forum.
According to your description, I test on my side(VS Community 2019 16.4.4) by using C++ console application, Winforms(C#) and asp .net web application, but it seems the vertical scrollbar works well.
Not sure which kind of project do you use, in addition to Ashidacchi’s suggestions, you could also try to reset VS settings from Tools => Import and Export Settings... => Reset all settings => Next => “No, just reset settings, overwriting my current settings” => Next => General => Finish.
If you also installed some third-party extensions/anti-virus software, you could try to disable/stop them temporarily and check if this work.
BTW, if this issue still persists, if possible, could you share us with some detailed informtaion or steps and help us to reproduce your issue? I will test on my side and if this is a potential issue, I will report it to VS product team.
Hope all above could help you a little.
Kind Regards,
Tianyu

Hi,
VS v.6.4.4 works in desktops. But the vertical scrollbar does not appear in my laptops. Unfortunately, I also work at home on my laptop.
If there's an updated version, I'll update mine over the weekend and try if I get the same problem.

I've updated to VS 2019 v16.4.5 and the vertical scrollbar doesn't show in my Dell laptop.
I guess this issue is for laptops only?
Would be nice to have it since laptops have lesser real estate to view the codes.

Hi,
About VS 2019 (and other applications), there is no difference between laptop and desktop.
Have you repaired your VS 2019?

There's really nothing wrong with VS2019. I just updated it to latest version (v16.4.5). Might be something wrong with my laptop.

Hi Marilyn,
Thank you for your feedback.
Do you install some extensions in VS? Maybe some of them have the feature to change the layout/window/tools or others. You could try to disable them temporarily from Extensions => Manage Extensions => Installed => Disable.
BTW, maybe you could also try to perform a clean boot in Windows, please refer to this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Hope this could help you and any feedback will be expected.
Sincerely,
Tianyu
