Excel 2016 - PivotTable Drill Down / Drill Up Tool

Question

Thursday, June 16, 2016 8:23 PM

Just trying to figure out what these tools are used for?

They appear greyed out.

I know how to drill down data within a PivotTable by double-clicking a total but it appears the Drill Down tool has maybe got some other purpose but I'm not sure.

Hi there,

Thanks for this - I'm assuming these instructions also relate to Excel 2016.

If so it appears that the Drill Down and Drill Up tools will only be available if the using an advanced PivotTables (ie Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cube or Data Model-based PivotTable hierarchy).
