Question

We recently upgrade our Sharepoint 2010 server (On Windows Sever 2008 R2) with Windows Updates (because of the whole WannaCry thing...) and it broke our Sharepoint for some of our users. The error is for for users using any type of browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and for either type of the Microsoft Office we user (2010 or 2013)
After much diagnosing, I've discovered that these issues are only occurring for our users on Windows 7. Anybody on Windows 8 or 10 are not affected. This leads me to believe that for whatever reason, the server can no longer connect with Windows 7 machines.
Does anyone have an idea of what type of fix can be implemented for this?

from your issue description, I guess the issue is a client issue, I suggest you to check the web browser version, open web browser with admin right, etc.

Hi MattRawlings,
My understanding is that users on windows 7 unable to open documents with office client after install windows updates.
There could be many reasons for the issue you're experiencing, and it's probably due to either your Office or browser version.
Couple things to check:
Try to uninstall the windows updates, does the issue resolved?
Does changes whether documents open in the browser or client make a difference?
Do you have more than one version of Office installed?
Are you using only Internet Explorer 32-bit version/have you tried compatibility mode?
See the following links for other troubleshooting:
If I misunderstanding of you, feel free to let me know.
